Do you need help with a biology class? Are you considering going to graduate school in biology and looking for advice? Do you need help designing an experiment or analyzing your results? Would you like feedback on a presentation, poster, or article? Would you like an introduction to the world of bioinformatics? This is a package of 12 hours of coaching in a subject somehow related to biology (eight 1.5 hour sessions or twelve 1 hour sessions). I am a molecular biologist and educator with a passion for bioinformatics. I have experience with traditional wet lab techniques (e.g. cell culture, virus propagation, transfection, Western blotting, RT-qPCR, etc.) and computational analyses (e.g. using the command line, Python, R, Galaxy, etc.). I have taught biology at the college level. I’m a skilled writer and meticulous editor. My favorite class of macromolecule is the protein. Molecular and Cellular Biology // Bioinformatics
I am a molecular biologist with a passion for bioinformatics and experience teaching college biology. I can help you succeed at a biology course, apply for graduate school, search the scientific literature, understand research articles, design a research project, analyze data, or write up results. I have experience with many traditional wet lab techniques, including cell culture, viral propagation, transfection, Western blotting, and RT-qPCR. I can also teach you how to analyze data using the command line, Python, R, or GUI-based tools like Galaxy. I am all-but-dissertation in the PhD program in Animal Biology at UC Davis, where I studied the molecular mechanisms of sperm-egg fusion. I have also worked as a Research Assistant at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center, where I studied the mechanism by which cytomegalovirus regulates the expression of a certain protein.
