Through developing a strong application highlighting your research, academic, and "soft" skills, I've helped dozens of students be admitted into their dream Ph.D. programs at elite universities (as well as bridge to PhD programs). I have developed techniques for students to perfect all parts of their applications and how to contact professors and admissions committees to illustrate interest in the program.

About Brian

Hi! My name is Brian Donovan, and I am a current Ph.D. candidate at Columbia University in the Engineering Department. I enjoy helping others achieve admission to their dream university by crafting an application highlighting you as a stellar scholar. Over the past nine years, I've worked extensively as a mentor working with bright students academically and constructing both undergraduate and graduate applications. Let me rewind a bit to give you some background information about me: I was born in Chicago and attended a competitive high school on the north shore. Throughout high school, I was a varsity athlete and was extensively involved in Science Olympiad. During my undergraduate years, I was lucky enough to be accepted to the University of California, San Diego, as a Regents Scholar and not have to pay a dime for my undergraduate education. While in southern California, I earned bachelor's degrees in Engineering, Chemistry, and Statistics, as well as a minor in accounting, and was incredibly interested in applying my engineering and mathematic skills to biotechnology research. After three years, I moved from California to New York, where I became a National Science Foundation Fellow and a Dean's Fellow at Columbia University, researching electrochemistry and applying machine learning for advancements in metallurgy and battery storage. In my free time, I love to read, take long walks through Riverside Park, and exercise. Feel free to reach out to me! I try to be incredibly responsive and am enthusiastic about you achieving your goals!

Why do I coach?

I am enthusiastic about being a mentor as I enjoy watching others achieve their greatest potential. I initially struggled through my first round of college admissions during high school, but was lucky enough to be incredibly proactive and do an incredible amount of research and revise my application. A lot of knowledge critical to getting into top schools that I learned through my first admission process is practically invisible and I wish to share this knowledge with other passionate students to allow them to achieve their fullest potential. I was also fortunate enough to confirm this information working in my undergraduate admissions office. Within the past five years, I have guided dozens of students to their top choices of schools and have loved seeing these bright individuals succeed, and I hope to continue aiding the next generation of passionate students!
